Paddle the “BIG LOOP Paddle Trail Experience” with the comfort of our local Guide.
Just a short drive from New Orleans, Louisiana, along the Cajun Coast, is our quaint, small town of Franklin, Louisiana. Our beautiful, “hallmark” city is filled with amazing waterways, history, architecture, food, some pretty awesome people and some super comfortable kayaks!
Join us as we embark on a voyage of nature, history and architecture through Franklin’s most famous waterways. Your experience begins at our kayak shack located at 906 Main Street in Franklin, behind the Shadowlawn home.
Once everyone arrives at our kayak Shack, you’ll take a short, .68 mile walk with your Guide and belongings to the start of our paddle trail at the Fifth Street Canal. When you arrive at the Fifth Street Canal, you will be met with your kayak, paddle, and life vest. You will also be given a basic lesson in paddle strokes, safety, and rules of the water. Once you’re trained and ready to paddle, we’ll launch our boats into the canal and put our new found skills into action as we become one with nature.
As we paddle down the Franklin and Hanson Canals to the Bayou Teche, your Guide will transform the landscape with stories of Franklin’s past, present, and future. The majority of this experience is spent padding. Our stops will be short and sweet so that you can experience as much time on the water paddling as possible.
Our outdoor journey takes us to the Bayou Teche, as we see amazing Bayou views of several Antebellum homes, and talk about our cities rich history and culture, all while enjoying a nature bath, and burning off some of those Southern food calories. We eventually make our way back to our starting point at our kayak shack.
Remember: This is a physical sport!
Did you know: Kayaking can burn more calories than jogging?
